Import regulations when traveling with pets

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has been experiencing intermittent disruptions lately.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and thank you for your cooperation.

All animals entering Canada must meet import requirements, adding domestic and non-traditional animals. Import situations could possibly come with testing and quarantine before entering Canada.

Non-traditional pets such as pigs, sheep, goats and poultry (including, but not limited to ducks and pigeons) constitute the same point of threat of animal disease as livestock and must therefore meet the same import requirements.

The CFIA would possibly refuse access to any animal imported into Canada.
