The first has partnered with Spotify for a series of frank conversations aimed at generating “empathy and understanding”
This is the announcement that Michelle Obama enthusiasts were desperately waiting for. Oh, I’m sorry, not that one. Joe Biden turns out he’s sewn it up a lot. But the first girl is releasing a podcast.
Michelle Obama’s podcast will focus on dating and fitness issues, with a series of frank conversations between the host and guests, adding communication presenter Conan O’Brien and one of her husband Barack Obama’s former senior advisers, entrepreneur Valerie Jarrett. It is expected to debut exclusively on Spotify starting July 29.
“I hope this series can be a position to explore meaningful issues in combination and solve so many questions that we’re all looking to answer in our own lives,” Obama said in a statement.
He added: “Perhaps most importantly, I hope this podcast will help listeners open new conversations, and difficult conversations, with the other people they care about to the fullest. This is how we can understand and empathize with everyone.”
The podcast is a collaboration between Spotify and Higher Ground, the production company founded through Obamas. This follows a productive era for Michelle Obama, who released her previous documentary Netflix Becoming this year.
She is not the only former first girl to participate in the podcast game. In February, it was announced that Hillary Clinton would launch a podcast last spring, which has not yet materialized.
