DOVER – The former co-owner of the dining place Dos Amigos has opened a new place to eat with new partners in a downtown mill.
Co-owner Joel Harris and his 3 affiliates operate with Dos Mexican Eats from his plant at 1 Washington Street.
Currently, the place where “Door Dash” is eaten and delivered, Harris said in an interview Thursday.
They can’t offer seats in restaurants because “our area is very small, it can only accommodate 8 to 10 people”. There is not enough room to socially eliminate consumers from the COVID-19 pandemic, he said.
“We’re running in possible seats,” Harris said.
He describes Two Mexican Eats as a “Fast Food Mexican Restaurant”.
“But we do everything from scratch and visit to please palaces ages 2 to 92,” he said. “We use fresh local ingredients possible, and supply genuine homemade foods centered in an era of fast food.
Dos Amigos closed its location on Central Avenue in the fall of 2019 after its opening in 2005.
But the two-friend sites in Portsmouth and Concord open, Harris said.
He and 3 of his former colleagues in Dover Dos Amigos have teamed up to open Two Mexican Eats.
“When I made the decision to close and sell our Dover site, 3 of my workers came up to me and said, “This is a mistake.” And they tried to try,” he said. “I was inspired by the fact that they saw enough of a company I created to help them continue at their own risk.”
“Our purpose of remaining the essence of Dos Amigos when we opened Dos Mexican Eats,” he added.
His associates are Brett Wintersteen, Mitch Purrington and Steve Ordway, who is the one with two Mexican Eats.
“These are 3 guys who bring genuine enthusiasm and enthusiasm to the new restaurant,” Harris said.
In addition to cooking for Two Mexican Eats, Wintersteen and Purrington also spend part of their time cooking for Two Friends in Portsmouth, Harris said.
They’re doing “street prep paintings in Portsmouth,” he said.
Two Mexican Eats has a menu that Two Friends said Harris said.
“We’ve removed some of the elements, obviously being in a smaller space, we’re a little restricted,” Harris said. “We made the decision that it was better to do some smart things than to do a lot of mediocre things.”
They’re no longer offering fish tacos. Its pillars are burritos, tacos and nachos, Harris said.
Since its reopening in May, the place to eat “has been very stable,” he said.
“We’re definitely low in terms of sales compared to our previous location, however, day by day we’ve been pretty consistent,” he said.
He pressed that co-owners “must always publicize” their new place to eat and their new location.
“There are still a lot of other people who don’t know they’re reopened,” he says.
There is on-site parking at 1 Washington Street and off-street parking.
The place to eat is open from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday.
They check to inspire others to place as many orders online as possible.
